The annual Celebration Evening, honouring students for a variety of achievements, was held on Tuesday, 10th July. Students, accompanied by their parents, braved the heat to enjoy celebrating achievements as diverse as academic success and effort to the successful Under 14 Basketball Team who made it to the National Semi-Finals as well as special awards for our talented artists and the Jack Petchey Award winners.
On Thursday 5th July fifteen students from years 7 and 8 attended the science club trip to the ‘Make the Future Live’ event at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Everyone loved the displays and activities and enjoyed learning about how developments in science and engineering could be used to create a more sustainable future.

After an in-school workshop on Thursday 8th February with poet Rachel Long, A Level English Literature students were invited to Eton College on Thursday 3rd May for a final celebration of the Orwell Youth Prize. Speakers included Baroness Helena Kennedy, Lord Adonis, poet Anthony Anaxagorou, writer Stephen Armstrong and the editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine, Farrah Storr. Students then worked
Ms Kelly Norrington from Uptree Ltd, an organisation that matches up students with employers outlined the opportunities currently available to students in a variety of fields both in London and further afield.
Students were delighted to meet Dr Alex Mehta, founder of the legal compliance consultancy Judicium PLC this week. Heston has launched its Oxbridge Pathways Club, which provides opportunities for building confidence, independence and providing a broad range of learning opportunities outside of the classroom for our most able students.
To celebrate British Science Week 2018 the Science Department at Heston put on a series of fun demonstrations on Thursday 15th March. Students took part in spectacular demonstrations ranging from flaming rockets, setting their teachers hands on fire, flying small drones and even vacuum packing!
