U14 Girls' Basketball
An impressive 94-4 win saw Heston through to the 3rd round of the London Youth Games
As champions of Hounslow, Heston Community School’s girls’ basketball team played Vyners School (Hillingdon champions) in Round 2 of the 2014 London Youth Games U14 Schools Basketball Tournament.
Despite missing influential vice-captain, Elvira Lajqi, Hounslow imposed themselves from the start. With inspirational point guard, Bethany Mann displaying her repertoire of skills and the power and guile of Year 8 guard, Lara Hassan, the visitors dominated game. By the end of the first quarter Heston had a 32 point lead which was extended to 58 points at half time.
An excellent team talk at half-time from the injured Lajqi saw Heston score 22 points without reply to give them an 2:82 point third quarter lead and an impressive 4-94 final score. The scorers were: Hassan (28pts), Mann (28pts), Sangha (12pts), Fadul (8pts), Mannion (6pts), Purba (6pts), Kalsi (4pts), Tassil (2pts).
Well done to the whole team and good luck in the next round!
