Our Mufti Day on Thursday 21st April raised money to sponsor Rachel Edwards who is running in the London Marathon for Princess Alice Hospice.

Rachel is the daughter of Les Edwards who taught at Heston for 34 years and was Post-16 Learning Coordinator when he retired in 2012. Les sadly passed away in August 2014 following a battle with cancer.

Rachel in her Princess Alice marathon kitRachel (pictured right) explains why she is running the marathon: “I am now preparing to make my tribute to Dad and have applied successfully for a place in the London Marathon in April 2016, which I will be running for Princess Alice Hospice, they coordinated Dad's care at home and in the hospice, and their staff and facilities were nothing short of amazing. They eased some of the stress for us all and Mum now volunteers regularly for them. As a doctor in a busy hospital environment I can truly appreciate how lucky we were to have the hospice team coordinating Dad's end of life care and I feel I owe them a lot for that.”

The School is very keen to help Rachel raise as much as possible for Princess Alice Hospice and as well as all the “fees” paid by students to not wear uniform on Thursday there will be a series of other fund-raising activities – one on Mufti Day saw 7 Yellow Tutor Group (pictured above left) making milkshakes for sale at lunch time.
